For the third game in a row, struggling French champ Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 after taking the lead, prompting coach Laurent Blanc to acknowledge that his team has a confidence problem. In its last three outings, the Ligue 1 favorite has produced 1-1 draws at Rennes, Ajax in the UEFA Champions League, and now, Lyon at home.
"We're not playing as well as a team, we're not as sharp and we can't seem to put things into place," the French tactician said. "We know this scenario only too well. We score the goal that should liberate us and, instead, I get the impression that we tense up."
PSG is currently in fifth place, three points behind leader Marseille, having won just two of its opening six games, drawing four. Despite the disappointing start to the season, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi maintains that Blanc’s position is safe. "He's not in danger. He'll stay with us until the end of the season," the Qatari businessman told reporters following Sunday’s draw.
