Ex-D.C. man scores amazing no-look, back-heel volley

[VIDEO PICK: Golazo] Pablo Hernandez played 14 games for D.C. United in 2010 and failed to hit the net.

Last week, he scored a must-see Goal of the Year candidate for Spain's Celta, volleying home while facing away from the goal with his back-heel.

Hernandez is marked tightly by Atletico Madrid’s Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin but figures out an ingenious way of striking the ball.

The goal, the 27-year-old’s first of the La Liga season, came in a 2-1 loss to the defending champion.

Hernandez was born and raised in Argentina but obtained Chilean citizenship -- thanks to his grandmother – last year and debuted for Chile in January, scoring twice in a 4-0 win over Costa Rica. He hasn't played since for Chile, but this certainly puts him back on the radar.

Hernandez played for D.C. United on on loan from Uruguay’s Defensor Sporting, whose buyout clause was more than the MLS club was willing to pay.

Lucky, not amazing. It seems that if the ball goes in the net anyhow, anyway, that is sufficient for it to be termed a "GOLAZO!" For a real "GOLAZO!" see Roberto Carlos's strike against France
