[ROUNDUP: Friday] Patrick Zimmer scored in the 15th minute to give San Diego a 1-0 win over UCLA before a record crowd of 4,432 fans at Torero Stadium.

-- A capacity crowd of 3,007 watched defending champion Notre Dame down North Carolina, 2-0, on goals by Jeffrey Farina and Leon Brown  in an ACC battle of No. 2 and No. 8 teams on Friday evening at Alumni Stadium.

-- No. 23 Charlotte got goals in the final five minutes from Brandt Bronico and Harrison Steadman and shut out No. 5 New Mexico, 2-0, in their Conference USA opener.
 
-- No. 9 California beat Santa Clara, 4-0, at Buck Shaw Stadium for its sixth consecutive victory. Sophomore Christian Thierjung scored his fifth goal of the season in the 27th minute to start the scoring. Max Oldham, Omid Jalali and Connor Hallisey also scored.

 -- No. 10 Stanford dispatched Gonzaga, 3-0, to move its record to 6-1, its best start since winning six of its first seven in 2009. Jordan Morris and Tomas Hilliard-Arce opened the scoring, while freshman Foster Langsdorf, coming off the bench is his college debut, completed the scoring.

-- A goal in the 35th minute from Alex Roldan gave Seattle a 1-0 win No. 25 Oregon State.
