[ARIZONA STATE-UCLA: Women] No. 1 UCLA trailed for the first time this but came back to tie No. 19 Arizona State, 1-1, in Tempe.
Cali Farquharson gave ASU the lead with her ninth goal of the season in the 49th minute, but UCLA senior
Rosie White tied it up in the 67th minute
for the Bruins, who finished with 34 shots.
“I really liked that we are bummed that we did not play better and get the win,” said ASU head coach
Kevin Boyd. “We played fine until we scored a goal. I spent most of the game trying to get us back on track and we never did quite find it.”
Goalkeeper
Chandler Morris made 11 saves to hold off UCLA, which is now unbeaten in 31 straight games.
Farquharson gave ASU the lead after getting ahead of the UCLA
defense on a through ball from
Aly Moon and beating UCLA's U.S. U-20 keeper,
Katelyn Rowland.
The
Bruin goal came when
Zoey Goralski sent a cross from the right side to
Kodi Lavrusky in the box. Lavrusky headed it down
towards goal, and Morris got a hand on it but was unable to control the ball. White flicked it in past Morris for the equalizer.
The Sun Devils had other chances before the Bruin
equalizer but
Abby Dahlkemper cleared an empty-net shot off the line and
Caprice Dydasco swept away a loose-ball rebound
out of danger.
