Seahawks extend longest win streak since 1998

[UNC WILMINGTON-NORTH CAROLINA Men] Jamie Dell scored twice, including the game-winner in the 80th minute, as UNC Wilmington topped No. 9 North Carolina 4-3, before a UNCW Soccer Stadium attendance record of 2,613 on Tuesday. The win ran the Seahawks' winning streak to six straight games -- their longest since 1998 -- and they improved to 8-1-1. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, dropped their third consecutive outing.

Dell, who now has six goals on the season, gave the Seahawks the lead in the 52nd minute and notched his team-leading fourth game-winner of the season in the 80th minute.

After falling behind in the eighth minute on a Walker Hume goal, UNCW ran off three straight goals by Alexander Schlobohm, Dell and Colin Bonner.

Verneri Valimaa cut the deficit to 3-2 for the Tar Heels before Dell’s second strike of the game off a short pass from Freddy Nzekele made it a 4-2 lead for the Seahawks. Trailing 4-2 in the 85th minute, Alan Winn would make it a one-goal game for the Tar Heels.
