Klopp: BVB Hits 'Rock Bottom'

  • ESPN FC, Monday, October 6, 2014 4:07 PM
Jurgen Klopp on Sunday declared “rock bottom” for Borussia Dortmund after the BVB lost 1-0 at home to struggling Hamburg. It was the northern German team’s first win of the season, while the loss left Dortmund in 13th place in the Bundesliga standings, just two points outside of the relegation zone.

"We've now got to accept all the criticism that comes our way, even the unjustified stuff,” Klopp said after the game. “Criticism should be helpful and should not lead to you feeling worse. We think we've identified the problem, but resolving it is something else. Today is October 4 and this is rock bottom, and the starting point for the remainder of the season."

The two-week international break will be a welcome respite for Klopp and his men, but it also gives a midfield decimated by injuries some time to recover. Ilkay Gundogan, Nuri Sahin and Henrikh Mkhitaryan should all become available for selection in the coming weeks, while Marco Reus is also nearing his return.
