Xavi Hernandez’s agent Ivan Corretja on Friday sought to quash the rumors linking his client to a move to New York City FC in January. The Barcelona midfielder, who has been used sparingly by Coach Luis Enrique so far this season, had been linked with a move to the Big Apple to join former Barca teammate David Villa and Frank Lampard at NYCFC. The speculation intensified as Corretja traveled to Manchester to take in Man City’s UEFA Champions League clash with AS Roma earlier this month (Man City is part-owner of NYCFC). "Xavi is happy at [Barca] and the coaching staff are happy with him – he will not leave in January,” Corretja told El Mundo Deportivo. "It is true I was in Manchester but not to talk about Xavi."
