Shakhtar Donetsk's Donbass Arena suffered serious damage from gunfire on Monday despite the recent ceasefire agreed between the Ukraine government and Russian-backed separatists in the region, Reuters reports. The 52,000-seat venue, which hosted five matches at Euro 2012 and regularly staged Shakhtar’s UEFA Champions League matches, has suffered minor damage from shelling over the past two months. Donetsk has become a stronghold of pro-Russian separatists fighting army forces controlled by the Ukrainian government. As such, Shakhtar moved its home stadium to Lviv in July until the further notice. In the meantime, residents of Donetsk are being told to stay away from the stadium.
