MLS and EPL matches draw top NBC audiences

[SOCCER ON THE AIR] NBC set Premier League and MLS audience records for its coverage of Sunday's EPL Manchester United-Chelsea match (1.29 million viewers) and Saturday's Seattle Sounders-LA Galaxy to decide MLS's Supporters' Shield (699,000 viewers).

The Man. United-Chelsea match – a 1-1 tie at Old Trafford – ranked as the most-watched Premier League game since NBC Sports Group kicked off its EPL coverage in August 2013. Sunday’s game, NBC’s first EPL match on a Sunday afternoon, is the second-most watched live game in EPL history on U.S. television behind the 2012 Manchester United-Chelsea match on Fox (1.38 million viewers).

The Sounders-LA Galaxy game was NBC Sports Group’s most-watched MLS game ever (including playoffs).

Too bad the SSFC v. LAG game was not even a fraction entertaining as last Seattle-Portland game, but good numbers.
