1. THE DEAL: ESPN commits to MLS through 2014

ESPN Inc.'s deal with MLS for rights to MLS from 2007 through 2014 includes:

* ESPN2 will televise 26 regular-season MLS matches, primarily on Thursday nights.
* ESPN2 will televise three MLS playoff matches on Thursday nights
* ABC will broadcast three marquee MLS matches, the season-opening match, MLS All-Star Game and The MLS Cup
* Televised coverage of the first round of the MLS Draft

ESPN also has rights to FIFA World Cup events through 2014:
* Men's World Cup (2010 and '14)
* Women's World Cup (2007 and '11)
* Confederations Cup (2009 and '13)
* U-20 men's World Cup (2007, '09, '11 and '13)
* U-17 boys World Cup (2007, '09, '11 and '13)
* U-20 Women's World Cup (2008, '10, '12 and '14)
* U-17 girls World Cup (2008, '10, '12 and '14)
* Futsal World Championship (2008 and '12)
* Beach Soccer World Championship (2007, '08, '09, '10, '11, '12, '13 and '14.

ESPN also has rights to:
* UEFA Champions League (through 2008-09)
* NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Championships (through 2013)
