Apparently, former Werder Bremen and Germany goalkeeper Tim Wiese has decided to swap the world of soccer for professional wrestling. According to Bild, the 32-year-old, who left his last club Hoffenheim in January after making just 10 appearances in two years, will make his WWE debut this weekend at an official WWE event in Frankfurt. However, the report claims that Wiese will not step into the ring as a wrestler, but rather as a show act between the fights.
Earlier this week, the 257-pound former shot-stopper told Sport1 he is hoping for something more permanent: "There will be talks [with WWE] in the next days. You need to listen to their plans. In Germany they smile at wrestling. But it's huge in America, a real hype. It's the No.3 or No.4 sport there. It's exciting and you earn a lot of money, too. And it's a show. Let's see what happens." When asked if he plans to ever return to his former sport, he said: "I no longer care two figs about soccer," he added.
