U.S. U-20s win at San Pedro Sula

San Pedro Sula is no easy place to play as the USA (2-1 loser in the 2013 Hexagonal opener) and Canada (8-1 loser four months earlier) found out in World Cup qualifying, so the U.S. under-20 national team's 2-1 win over its Honduran counterpart at the Estadio Morazan should not be taken lightly.

Romain Gall and Tommy Thompson, who are coming off their MLS rookie seasons with Columbus and San Jose, respectively, each scored a goal. Olimpia defender Kevin Alvarez had the lone goal for Honduras.

The USA and Honduras meet again on Sunday in San Pedro Sula. It will be the U-20s' final international game before U-20 World Cup qualifying begins against Guatemala Jan. 9 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
