Atletico Madrid on Monday confirmed that former striker Fernando Torres would re-join the club on an 18-month loan deal from AC Milan, subject to a medical. Chelsea, Torres’ formerclub, announced on Saturday that the 30-year-old would make his loan move to AC Milan permanent on Jan 5, but he is to be immediately loaned to the Spanish champ. Torres made his debut with Atleticoin 2001 and established himself as a star at the club before moving to Liverpool in 2007. He later moved to Chelsea in 2011 in a deal reported to be worth $80 million but, despite winning the FA Cup,UEFA Champions League and Europa League while at Stamford Bridge, the Spaniard struggled to live up to his price tag.
