Caribbean Combine opens Friday in Puerto Rico

MLS's second Caribbean Combine kicks off Friday with 19 players in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The invitees don't reflect the best players available in the Caribbean but a representation of players from many of the CFU member associations.

The lone Jamaican participant, 22-year-old international Jermaine Woozencroft, is one of several players from 2013-14 Red Stripe Premier League champion Montego Bay United who could be headed abroad.

Joseph Marrero Garcia, who plays for Kultsu in Finland, was called in to the combine for the second year in a row. Fellow Puerto Rican Reid Strain played in the Chicago Fire academy and attended the University of Indianapolis before trying his luck in Costa Rica with Saprissa.

Marco Fenelus, a Cal State Fullerton junior via Western Texas JC, represents Turks & Caicos. Guyana representative Anani Mohamed attended Temple after stops at Arizona Western College and Virginia Tech. Dominica-born keeper Denny Smith plays for the University of the Virgin Islands.

Antigua & Barbuda's Tevaughn Harriette played in the new Evergreen Premier League for Vancouver Victory in 2014.
