Pardew to Add Firepower to Palace Attack

  • Guardian, Friday, January 2, 2015 3:18 PM
Crystal Palace caretaker manager Keith Millen noted that Alan Pardew, who was in the stands as his new club drew 0-0 at Aston Villa, will be keen to add to Palace’s attacking firepower during the January transfer window, which opens on Saturday. Pardew began his new job on Friday after leaving Newcastle United following four seasons. Palace, currently in 17th place, has scored just 20 goals in 20 games so far this season.

“He will want to make us more attractive and exciting while keeping what we’re good at,” Millen said after Thursday’s draw. “I’m sure he will have talked to the chairman about transfers; we all know we need to bring in players.

Separately, Villa confirmed it will be without captain Ron Vlaar for an uncertain amount of time after the Dutchman hobbled off the field with a knee injury 14 minutes into Thursday’s game.
