Liverpool captain Steve Gerrard is on his way to the USA. The 34-year-old on Saturday revealed his decision to join MLS at the end of the season, but was quick to add that he would join an as-yet unnamed team. ESPN on Monday reported that Gerrard will join the LA Galaxy on an 18-month contract worth $6 million per year, although neither side would confirm the rumor.
During an interview that appeared on LFCTV on Saturday, Gerrard said he had been through an "emotional" 24 hours since announcing his departure. "People will have their own opinions on it, but for me I think come the summer, it will be the right time to move on and try something different -- come out of the club and the city and have a look in for a short while and hopefully have the opportunity to return," he said, adding: "The last game and the last couple of training sessions are going to be torture, because it's so tough to say 'goodbye.' But hopefully it's more of a 'see you soon' rather than a 'goodbye.'"
