Paris Saint-Germain on Monday overcame a tumultuous first week of 2015 with a comfortable 3-0 at Montpellier in the French Cup on Monday. Once again, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the star, setting Clement Chantome up for PSG’s first on the hour-mark, before heading in the second from a Javier Pastore cross fifteen minutes later. Lucas Moura added a third for the visitor in stoppage time.
After the game, PSG coach Laurent Blanc said he hoped the win would inspire his side. "I really hope that despite our small problems right now, this victory will help to strengthen the group," the Frenchman told Eurosport. "Now we have to do it again on Saturday against Bastia. The best answer is to be good on the ground." By “small problems,” Blanc is referring to South American duo Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi, who were both fined and banned for two games after returning late from Christmas break. Both players have been linked with moves away from Paris, possibly during the January transfer window.
