Former Germany goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand moved a step closer to completing a move to MLS when current club Eintracht Frankfurt terminated his contract on Tuesday. Hildebrand joined Frankfurt as a free agent in late September following an injury that ended Frankfurt keeper Kevin Trapps’ 2014. However, the former Valencia and Schalke net minder moved down the pecking order, making just three total starts in the first half of the season, as Felix Wiedwald became coach Thomas Schaaf’s No. 1. Now that Trapp has regained his fitness, Hildebrand, 35, sought to terminate his contract and secure a move to MLS.
