Tottenham on Wednesday fought back from two goals down to beat Burnley, 4-2, in an FA Cup third round reply at White Hart Lane, setting up a fourth-round tie with Leicester City.
Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino made seven changes to the team that lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday and it looked to have backfired as Burnley jumped out to a 2-0 lead inside seven minutes. But Paulinho pulled a goal back for Spurs after 10 minutes before Etienne Capoue tied the score on the stroke of halftime. In the second half, goals from Vlad Chiriches and Danny Rose put the result beyond doubt.
"We deserved to go through to the next round,” Pochettino said after the game. “It was key to go in at halftime at 2-2. We fixed something from the tactical situation and scored two goals quickly to decide the game. The team has shown character and faith. It's important to grow in the group. I am happy they showed character because that is important.”
