SA, please: "id2" is not a common-knowledge term, even for readers of S.A. A note would be helpful to explain: What is "id2"? Under what auspices? Who selects the players? How are they selected? Citizenship requirements? Who coaches?

Karl, all you need to know is that the ID2 head coach is PDA Director and that every year 2 PDA players are deemed good enough to make this trip from the entire country since this selection started. He is aided by 2-3 other USSF Coaches. No other club is as consistent in selections in the entire country. Nike sponsors the entire thing.

My Son did ID2 in 2012. He didnt make the Spain trip, but it was a good experience. US club is lucky to have ID2 since non of there club players are ever going to make it to TC or National team camps by US soccer only selecting USSDA players. Top players need another outlet to put on there CV if they are going to get snubbed by US soccer. Id2 is a great program. I just wish they had it for every age group.

PDA has 3 players on the U17 national team where the club has no connection what so ever. PDA also just won the U17-18 USDA national championship this past summer ... maybe they just run a very good club and that's why they have kids on every year. So is he not supposed to pick PDA players even if they're worthy? Grow up dude

I feel for you, Karl. You ask the question and nobody even bothers to answer you. id2 is as a stupid name as it gets. Read here:

Thanks for the feedback! - A lot has happened since I left "organized soccer"! The USSF-Website does not provide a hitchhiker's guide through the universe of affiliated or sanctioned organizations and how they work together for the common goal.

Jogo, Do they win the USSDA every year?? And what does winning have to do with developing top players?? If you said that those players were playing up 2 years in PDA then I would agree with you. I dont doubt that PDA is a good prgram but what you suggest is that it is the best program in the entire country or/and are the only ones capable to develop exactly 2 players good enough to be selected for this Nike sponsored trip. PDA should just run our entire development program then. Grow up?? Sorry for having common sense.

Futsal, winning the USDA even once says a lot about the quality of your team - but i agree that on the youth level winning should be secondary to development. However, winning at the U17/18 level has more significance than winning at the younger age groups. You also make a strong point about players playing up. PDA's U17/18's played 9 players over the course of the season that were young enough to play at the U15/16 level. I just think it's easy to say that because the director is from PDA that his players get an unfair advantage. Have you seen these kids play? It's quite possible that just might be good enough.

Jogo, again i do not doubt that PDA is a great club or that the director is a great coach. ID2 is promoting that they scout the entire country for the very best players in 1 specific age group a year, at 13-14 years old. ID2 has existed for more than 10 years. Same director every year. exactly 2 PDA players every year or almost every year are chosen. No more. No less. How can it be that one club, however great it might be, has exactly the same amount of the very very best 18 players, every year, in the entire country?? Surely you must understand this is not possible. It sends the wrong message about the entire program. I can personally tell you it is completely political. I have seen a few players reccomended that are now national team players and they wouldnt even consider them at ID2. I dont think the USA National team is pulling in 2 or more PDA players to their teams or even camps. The kicker here is that the guys helping Mcown are USSF scouts, National Team Staff, which I dont understand. The entire purpose for ID2, sponsored by Nike, is to identify talent so they can reccomend them to the USA National Team. Hence, the word "ID". How does this work if the National team Staff are already there?? Very easy to be successful in getting their players into USA camp and promoting they are good at it. And even in this case we dont see that many PDA players pulled in to USA Teams and as consistently as in ID2. Unless you believe that there is absolutely no way that the PDA/ID2 director in no possible way would use his position to his club's advantage.

No other club even close to PDA. Not even 1/2 as close. PDA must be the absolutely best club in USA. Actually the world. Or maybe they are the best at just the 13-14 year old ages??
