Guatemala calls up former U.S. U-20 Moises Hernandez

Former U.S. U-20 Moises Hernandez, the young FC Dallas starting left back, has been called up by Guatemala for its friendlies against Canada and El Salvador in the United States. Hernandez was born in Dallas to a Guatemalan father and played for Comunicaciones of Guatemala on loan before breaking into the FC Dallas first team.

Hernandez, who played for the USA in the 2011 Under-20 World Cup qualifying, is a product of the FC Dallas academy program and broke into the starting lineup last season with fellow academy player Victor Ulloa after stints at Comunicaciones and Saprissa in Costa Rica.

Hernandez and Stefano Cincotta, a former German U-20, will need FIFA approval to play for Guatemala.

Two other MLS players are in the Guatemala squad: Marco Pappa (Seattle Sounders) and Elias Vasquez (Real Salt Lake).

Other FC Dallas players getting callups: Blas Perez (Panama), Atiba Harris (St. Kitts & Nevis), Kyle Bekker (Canada), Je-Vaughn Watson (Jamaica) and Jesse Gonzalez (Mexico U-20s).
