World Cup on ESPN garners six Sports Emmy nominations

ESPN received six Sports Emmy Award nominations for its coverage of the 2014 World Cup from Brazil, including one in the Live Special category for the Germany-Argentina final in Rio de Janeiro.

Andres Cantor (Telemundo), who won an Emmy last year in the first-ever Spanish-language categories, was nominated again for Outstanding On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish.

Univision (World Cup final) and Telemundo (English Premier League final day and Leon-Pachuca final) were both nominated for outstanding live coverage in Spanish.

NBC and NBCSN were nominated for outstanding technical team studio for its coverage of the English Premier League.

Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel had its episode "Sport in Qatar: The Price of Glory" -- about Qatar's quest to become an international sports power -- nominated for outstanding sports journalism.
