U.S. SOCCER: U.S. U-20s beat Canada U-20s and Necaxa

The U.S. under-20 menÆs national team split squads beat the Canada under-20 national team, 1-0, and Necaxa of Mexico, 2-1, in the first of two days of games during their 12-day training camp at The Home Depot Center.

The Grey team used an early goal by UCLA's Chad Barrett to cruise to a 1-0 victory over Canada, while the Blue team got goals from Seton Hall's Sacha Kljestan and Indiana's Jacob Peterson to topple Necaxa, which has been preparing for Mexico's Torneo Clausura. The U.S. U-20s will play Canada and a local XI on Monday.

The U.S. U-20s will return to the Home Depot Center for the CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament Jan. 12-16. The U.S. U-20s are attempting to qualify for a fifth consecutive World Youth Championship. They will face Trinidad & Tobago Jan. 12, Panama Jan. 14 and Costa Rica Jan. 16. The top two finishers in Carson will advance to the World Youth Championship in the Netherlands June 10-July 2, 2005.
