WINNERS & LOSERS: Donovan, Keller make Bundesliga debuts

Winners:

KASEY KELLER, who had a two-season Spanish First Division stint in the middle of a decade of playing in England, got good reviews after his debut in the German First Division on Saturday, when his new club, Borussia Moenchengladbach, downed Arminia Bielefeld, 1-0.
 

LANDON DONOVAN celebrated his German Bundesliga debut as an 84th-minute sub as Bayer Leverkusen downed Hannover 96, which had American Steve Cherundolo in defense, 3-0.

DaMARCUS BEASLEY spent time on both flanks during PSV Eindhoven's 4-0 win over NAC Breda and set up the game's first goal, by Jan Vennegoor, with a low pass from the right wing as PSV moved back into first place of the Dutch Eredivise.

FULHAM extended its unbeaten streak in cup and league play to six games with a 2-1 win over Birmingham on Saturday. In the 90th minute, Fulham's American
defender Carlos Bocanegra received his third yellow card in four games and his fifth of the season. Brian McBride came on an 89th minute sub.

NECAXA, with Texas product DANIEL HERNANDEZ in defense, thumped Veracruz, 4-0, in its first home game of the Torneo Clausura. It fell, 1-0, at Toluca
a week earlier in its first game of the Clausura 2005.

Losers:

Former Dallas Burn defender CORY GIBBS made his Dutch Eredivise debut within a week of signing with FEYENOORD but came out on the losing end as Vitesse beat Coach Ruud Gullit's team 2-1.

BLACKBURN fell, 1-0, to Bolton on Monday thanks to a penalty kick awarded after the referee judged that U.S. keeper Brad Friedel tripped up El-Hadji Diouf although it appeared that the Sengalese forward took a dive. Blackburn is seven points above the relegation zone.
