MLS clubs swept all eight games against NASL and USL opposition  in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup, but it wasn’t easy. The Philadelphia Union and San Jose Earthquakes needed a shootoutand the Chicago Fire needed overtime to advance. Both Real Salt Lake and the Quakes had to come back from first-half deficits to beat off challenges from USL teams.
