Open Cup: MLS clubs sweep eight matches

MLS clubs swept all eight games against NASL and USL opposition  in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup, but it wasn't easy. The Philadelphia Union and San Jose Earthquakes needed a shootout and the Chicago Fire needed overtime to advance. Both Real Salt Lake and the Quakes had to come back from first-half deficits to beat off challenges from USL teams.

-- Sporting Kansas City defeated Saint Louis FC, 1-0, on a second-half Graham Zusi header before a record crowd of 19,298 for a fourth-round match in the modern era of the Open Cup.

-- Naval graduate Joseph Greenspan scored in his debut for the Colorado Rapids, who also got two goals and an assist from Dillon Serna in a 4-1 win over the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
