USL Weekend: Republic FC and Los Dos move on top

Sacramento Republic FC and the LA Galaxy II took over the lead in the USL's Western Conference from OKC Energy FC when Republic FC edged the Oklahoma City team, 2-1, and Los Dos beat Orange County, 3-0.

In the 80th minute, substitute forward Gabe Gissie broke the tie, scoring his first professional goal to give Republic FC its first home win in more than a month.

Galaxy II won on goals by David Romney, Travis Bowen and Ariel Lassiter, the latter's sixth goal of the season set up by star Raul Mendiola.



Former U.S. World Cup player Steve Trittschuh celebrated his return to St. Louis as Colorado Springs head coach as the Switchbacks beat Saint Louis FC, 1-0. The victory left them just one point behind Sacramento and the Galaxy II.
