    I had the same thought at the start of the game, that FIFA should not have assigned a referree from a country that is likely to face either team in the match. They wouldn't do it at the men's World Cup. As for the cards, I thought Holiday's card was arguably deserved, but Rapinoe's was harsh. In the end, I thought the ref did a fairly solid job overall. But yes, I too wondered at the cards handed to those two players.
