U.S. women headed to Pittsburgh and Chattanooga

The U.S. women's national team will play its first two matches after the Women's World Cup against Costa Rica on Aug. 16 in Pittsburgh and Aug. 19 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The USA and Costa Rica last met in the title game of the 2014 Concacaf Women's Championship . The USA triumphed 6-0 to take the regional championship.

Costa Rica's Ticas played for the first time at the Women's World Cup, finishing third in Group E after tying Spain, 1-1, and South Korea, 2-2, before losing to Brazil, 1-0.

The match in Pittsburgh marks the U.S. women's second visit to Heinz Field, home of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers, after defeating Iceland there by a 3-0 score in 2004 following the Olympic gold medal run in Greece.

The USA played at Finley Stadium, home of the National Premier Soccer League's Chattanooga FC and the Tennessee-Chattanooga football and women's soccer teams in 1997, defeating Sweden, 3-1.

This is what the US Women's Soccer team is really about, hucksterism and marketing. This is the real reason we see the team that we are seeing at the World Cup. Contracts have been signed, endorsement deals must be consecrated.

Whoa ... William ... I didn't get that at all from this article, however, I understand the message: Sports = Entertainment Business and PA and TN are great venues to market the USWNT. I think the fans of PA and TN are going to be excited to see these athletes parade around the world cup trophy ... it will be a good time! Good bunch of players come from this part of the Country and they are going to be excited to show off their home towns!
