TV Report: USA-China sets Fox soccer viewing record

Friday's USA-China quarterfinal match at the Women's World Cup drew 5.7 million viewers on Fox, a new soccer record for the network, breaking the short-lived mark set a week earlier for the USA-Nigeria match (5.0 million).

The match provided Fox its highest-rated program among Adults 18-49 (2.0) since the season finale of Empire in March 2015 and was  projected to give it its best Friday night in primetime since the Pac-12 football championship game in December 2014.

The Germany-France on Friday afternoon drew 1.7 million viewers, a tournament high for its coverage of a non-USA match. The match drew 3.8 million viewers on W9 -- a programming record for the French network -- and an impressive 16 percent of all television viewers.
