Jose Torres reaches Libertadores Cup final with Tigres

Back in action after a seven-month layoff with a herniated disk, American Jose Tigres helped Mexican club Tigres qualify for the final of the 2015 Libertadores Cup when it beat Brazil's Internacional, 3-1, and advanced to the final against River Plate with a 4-3 aggregate win.

Torres, who joined Torres in 2013 after seven seasons at Pachuca, started at left back in both games after returning to the lineup

Tigres got goals from French summer signing Andre Gignac and former Chicago Fire midfielder Egidio Arevalo Rios as well as an own goal by Geferson, who put Torres' cross into his own goal.

Monterrey opened up a 3-0 lead to take a 4-2 aggregate advantage before Lisandro Lopez pulled one back for Internacional in the 88th minute.

This is wonderful news to hear that Jose Francisco Torres has returned from injury to play for Tigres. Hopefully, he will also soon return to the US National Team for the World Cup qualifying games, this fall. He is one of the finest passers of the ball among the current pool of US players.
