FIFA on Thursday asked the Russian soccer federation (RFU) to explain its latest high-profile incident of racism that saw Ghanaian player Emmanuel Frimpong banned for two matches for hisreaction to fan abuse. Meanwhile, the alleged abusers’ team escaped action. In video from Friday’s Russian Premier League game, Spartak Moscow fans could be heard racially taunting the FC Ufamidfielder. The former Arsenal player, who posted a video of the incident on social media, is black. Reacting with a finger gesture to the fans led to Frimpong being banned for two games, whileSpartak escaped punishment as the RFU said it found no evidence of racism.
