Sampaoli Turns Down El Tri

ESPN reports that Chile coach Jorge Sampaoli has rejected an offer to coach the Mexican national team but is considering an offer to coach Ligue 1 side Marseille. Sampaoli, who guided Chile to the 2015 Copa America title, is contracted to remain with La Roja through the 2018 World Cup, but he is still mulling offers elsewhere. According to the report, the Argentine received a formal offer to replace former Mexico coach Miguel Herrera at nearly twice his current $3.6 million salary on Sunday, but he decided to turn it down. Marseille leadership is now reportedly in Chile to open discussions about replacing Marcelo Bielsa, who stepped down as Marseille coach last weekend.
