TV Report: Big drop in viewers for U.S. women

While the USA's first game since the Women's World Cup drew a record soccer crowd in Pittsburgh, Sunday's USA-Costa Rica friendly averaged just 315,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1, lower than the viewing figures for each of the final three friendlies before the tournament. The USA-Japan final on July 5 drew an average of 25.4 million viewers on Fox, a soccer viewing record for a U.S. network.

Three soccer games that aired Sunday on cable drew more viewers: Manchester City-Chelsea (818,000 on NBCSN), Crystal Palace-Arsenal (417,000 on NBCSN), Seattle-Orlando City (345,000 on ESPN2) (source: sportstvratings.com).
