Nesta joins Maldini as head coach at Miami FC

Miami is the home to retired Italian stars. It's been Paolo Maldini's second home for 15 years. Alessandro Nesta and his family moved there after retiring from the Montreal Impact at the end of the 2013 MLS season. So it is only natural that they will team up -- Maldini as co-owner and Nesta as head coach -- on NASL expansion team Miami FC.

“I’m happy to say I’ve reached another exciting chapter in my career,” Nesta said in a statement. "I’m privileged to be allowed the opportunity to help establish Miami FC and bring it to the forefront of the NASL.”

Nesta was on Italy's 2006 World Cup championship team. He was capped 78 times for Italy and played in three World Cups, three European Championships and the 1996 Olympics.

Miami FC will begin play in fall 2016.
