Kim Wyant, the first goalkeeper for the U.S. women's national team in 1985, has taken over as the head coach of the Division III NYU men's team one game into
the 2015 season. Men's coach
Joe Behan had to step down for family health concerns, and Wyant, the women's assistant, was picked to step into Behan's place.
Wyant was stunned by the appointment but doesn't want to be called a "pioneer." "That's such a strong word," she said. "I happen to be in an unusual situation because I am a woman coaching a men's
team because it's not common right now. I think it will become more common not only in soccer but in other sports."
