Morris Watch: Volley helps Stanford win fifth straight

Forty-eight hours after playing against Brazil, Jordan Morris was back in action, only this time is was time it was back at Stanford University, where he started in the Cardinal's 1-0 win over San Jose State. He finished the week in Dallas, where he scored a spectacular volley in Stanford's 3-2 overtime win over SMU.

Morris ran on to an Eric Verso cross and volleyed it out of the air first time to give Stanford a 2-0 win over SMU. The Mustangs rallied to send the game into overtime, where Verso won the game with a goal in the 108th minute.

Morris has now scored two goals in five games to give him 12 in his career. He scored the winner in the 81st minute at Louisville on Aug. 31.

Stanford is 5-1-0 after opening with a 1-0 loss at UC Santa Barbara. It finishes up its non-conference schedule with games against San Francisco and Davidson this weekend.

If he's called up for Olympic qualifying, he'd miss the first three games of Pac-12 play: Oct. 4 at Cal and Oct. 9 against Washington and Oct. 11 against Oregon State at home
