Dutch youth international Paola van der Veen
, the first player Utah ever recruited from outside North America, has made an immediate impact on the 3-2-2 Utes.
It took all of 28 minutes in the home opener against Houston to set up teammate Taylor Slattery
for a goal after her shot ricocheted off the crossbar. She comes
to Utah from ADO den Haag, one of the top Dutch women's clubs. “She’s played at the highest level on a club in Europe for three years so she’s played with the best players and

said, "so her knowledge of the game is just deep.”
