Freshman Klinsmann learning ropes at Cal

Freshman Jonathan Klinsmann, son of U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann, says he wasn't looking to find his own identity when he moved into goal, but it's not a move he's regretted. "I mean, if I were a striker, that would be pretty tough," Jonathan said. He's played just 61 minutes as a backup so far for Cal, which has two keepers starting in MLS: Stefan Frei and David Bingham. "It's an accelerated curve," Cal goalkeeper coach Henry Foulk said of expectations for the freshmen. "That's the way it should be anyway. We're always trying to push the limit without having them hit the wall too hard."
