Giovinco breaks MLS scoring records

Italian Sebastian Giovinco, who claimed the 2015 Audi Golden Boot as the league’s top goal scorer, set an MLS record for most goals (22) and assists (16) combined in a single season (38), breaking Chris Wondolowski’s previous record of 34 (27 goals and 7 assists) in 2012. He is also the first player to lead MLS in goals and assists in the same season. MLS averaged 2.76 goals per game, down 3 percent from the 2014 season, its highest average in nine years.
