Goal Count: UCSB's DePuy takes men's lead

Junior forward Nick DePuy scored both goals to give UC Santa Barbara a 2-1 win over Sacramento State and passed USC Upstate's Gordon Wild as the national leader in goals with 15.

Freshman midfielder Geoffrey Acheampong assisted on both of DePuy's goals to give him 10 assists on the season, extending his Big West lead. He is the first Gaucho to hit double digits in assists since Luis Silva and Dom Sarle both accomplished the feat in 2011.

UCSB clinched a spot in the upcoming Big West Tournament with the win.

"I was very pleased with our performance tonight," said UCSB head coach Tim Vom Steeg. "As a team, we really put in a good effort, especially considering we were coming off an emotionally disappointing draw against Cal Poly."
