What They're Saying: Sunil Gulati

“I was at the final games in Chile. Looking at the finalists and seeing what the games were like, we are long way off from what Nigeria and Mali were at and frankly Mexico against Belgium. So that raises some concerns on the player development side, for sure.”

-- Sunil Gulati on the disappointing showing of the USA at the Under-17 World Cup, where he said "we thought we had a good cycle and a good group of players." The USA exited without winning a game. (Washington Post)

Hola Sr. All American: Truth be told, well you have just done so, simply and because I really did not know that Tony Lepore is in charge of the NYouth System, and again I congratulate you for pointing this out. Your comment is very spot on, and at least Mr. Gulati finally came out and recognized that we're a helluva long way off in our youth developmental processes, BUT, did he really have to go all the way to Chile for the U17 WC to recognize this? From Cony K, to Santago 1314, to David M, R2Dad, Cisco Martinez, et.al., we've all been saying that something earth shaking must be done to improve our National Youth System, by by golly, our esteemed leader SG went all the way to Chile to make such "outstanding pronouncement" so now we must wait and see just what will happen next!
