Dynamo's Garrido badly injured in Honduras loss

Honduran midfielder Luis Garrido, who plays in MLS for the Houston Dynamo, suffered a gruesome knee injury and had to be transported to the hospital after he suffered torn posterior and anterior cruciate ligaments when Mexico midfielder Javier Aquino fell on his planted right leg in the first half of the Mexico-Honduras World Cup qualifier in San Pedro Sula. For Garrido, who has been on loan to the Dynamo from Olimpia since 2014, could be out of action for at least a year.

Also playing for Honduras in the 2-0 loss was Garrido's Dynamo teammate, Oscar Boniek Garcia. Marco Pappa (Seattle) and Moises Hernandez (FC Dallas) played for Guatemala in a 4-0 win at St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Will Johnson (Portland) and Cyle Larin (Orlando City) started for Canada in its 0-0 tie at El Salvador. Tesho Akindele (FC Dallas) came on in the second half for Canada.

In Costa Rica's 2-1 win over Panama in Panama City, Kendall Waston (Vancouver) and Alvaro Saborio (D.C. United) played for the Ticos, while Blas Perez (FC Dallas) and Anibal Godoy (San Jose) played for the Canalero.

Andre Blake (Philadelphia), Kemar Lawrence (New York Red Bulls), Demar Phillips (Real Salt Lake), Alvas Powell (Portland), Je-Vaughn Watson (FC Dallas) and Darren Mattocks (Vancouver) featured for Jamaica in its 1-0 win at Haiti for which Sony Mustivar (Sporting KC) started.

In Trinidad & Tobago's 0-0 tie with the USA, the Soca Warriors started four MLS players: Daniel Cyrus and Joevin Jones (Chicago), Kevan George (Columbus) and Cordell Cato (San Jose).
