Statistics are interesting why rate them in both comp and friendly?

What does the difference in ratings in each actually mean?

If it is lower in comp does it mean they are folding under the extra pressure then when they play in a friendly.

If it is higher in comp does it mean they can't get themselves motivated in a friendly?

If it is the same in both does it mean they are really good and can get themselves motivated for both.

If it is low for both maybe it means find yourself some new players.

It doesn't mean jack as the rating system used by SA is flawed. Highly subjective, and doesn't look at the overall benefit to having that player on the field. Take Nagbe. He was given a 4 in the last game and he was the only one who had silky control of the ball and settled down the team. And that is from a Sounders fan.

who is the rater? Rated by a group or individual.... exercise in ridiculousness.....

Yes statistics are subjective it is like art can be different for every coach

A big one for me is the number of corners we get. Not because it could lead to scoring chances.

But it tells me our attack is putting the opponents defense under a lot of pressure. Causes their defense to make mistakes

I agree re: that the "statistical ratings" given by SA are really not that "scientific" simply and because anyone can in fact and deed can manipulate the numbers to read whatever one wants. I remember one graduate business statistics course I took, the instructor told outright that in conducting or collecting the data one can have the tables read favorably or not. Now, it'd behoove SA's raters to provide us the readers how the players were rated, as Doug points out above, the numerical values are subjective. So how about it SA, please tell us in greater detail how you arrived at the ratings?
