Scoreboard: NCAA Division I Women's Tournament

Four seeded ACC teams lost Friday in the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament.

North Carolina, winner of 21 NCAA champions in 34 seasons, was knocked out in the round of 32 for the first time ever when the No. 3 seed Tar Heels fell to Texas A&M, 1-0.

Another No. 3 seed from the ACC fell on Friday afternoon: Notre Dame, which lost to UConn, 2-0. Rachel Hill scored both goals for UConn, the only team left from the inaugural NCAA Tournament in 1982 won by UNC to advance to this year's round of 16.

No. 2 Clemson fell to Ole Miss in a seven-round shootout after the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The wins by Texas A&M and Ole Miss assure at least one unseeded team will reach the quarterfinals.

A fourth seeded ACC team fell on Friday as No. 4 Virginia Tech lost to Ohio State, 1-0, on Arden Holden’s goal in the 79th minute, the first of the season for the freshman.

ACC champion and defending national champion Florida State recorded its eighth straight shutout in the NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 win over South Alabama, its third 5-0 victory over the Jaguars in three years in the postseason. Isabella Schmid scored a career-high two goals and added an assist, while fellow senior Cheyna Williams added a goal of her own and added two assists as the Seminoles scored all five goals in the first 36 minutes.

Thursday ...

Freshman midfielder Jordan DiBiasi scored twice Thursday night to lead No. 1 seed Stanford to a 2-1 victory over BYU. It was the second time DiBiasi scored the winning goal to beat the Cougars. Hannah Wong scored a pair of goals in less than a minute midway through the first half to lead Arizona past No. 4 seed Santa Clara, 2-1.
