Mike Petke takes New Jersey youth coaching post

Mike Petke, who led the New York Red Bulls to the 2013 MLS Supporters' Shield title and the 2014 East Conference finals before being fired, has accepted a post as New Jersey Youth Soccer's director of coaching for its ODP  and player development programs.

“I am extremely excited to join the New Jersey Youth Soccer family and contribute to the future development of players in our state,” Petke said in a statement.  “As a father of two young soccer players, I understand the importance of growth, on and off of the field, and am looking forward to working with the great staff at New Jersey Youth Soccer to build upon that strong foundation.”

Rick Meana will continue as director of coaching education, focusing on recreation and TOPSoccer programs.
