Report: News Revs DP signing Kouassi out 6-9 months

Ivorian midfielder Xavier Kouassi, acquired as a Designated Player to fill in the slot held by unsigned Jermaine Jones, was injured playing for his Swiss club Sion on Sunday, and the Swiss newspaper Le Nouvelliste reported he faces 6-9 months on the sidelines with a knee injury.

The transfer called for the 26-year-old Kouassi to complete his 2015-16 Swiss Super League season and then join the Revs in July during MLS's summer transfer window. The injury came in the second half of Sunday's 1-0 win over FC Zurich.

"More than the problems this injury poses for the team or me, it's terrible for Xavier," said Sion coach Didier Tholot. "He's a super guy."

Sion was hoping to acquire Belgian international Anthony Vanden Borre from Anderlecht before the Swiss window closed next Monday.

Hmmm, sorry for this player. Time for the Revs to come out of cheap mode and sign Jermaine again.
