Aron Johannsson's first season in the Bundesliga is over. The striker's hip injury required surgery in October and he was expected to return after the winter break, but Werder Bremen has shut
him down for the rest of the year.
"We have written Aron off for this season," Werder Bremen CEO
Thomas Eichin told Bild. "We no longer plan with him this season. It's a difficult situation for
him,"
Johannsson, 25, made just six league appearances and scored two goals with Bremen, which acquired him from Dutch club AZ last summer.
Eichin said "a prognosis is difficult"
but added Johannsson still has three years left on his contract.
