On behalf of his family, Jordi Cruyff expressed thanks for the tributes to his father, Johan Cruyff, who died of cancer at the age of 68 on Thursday.
“It has touched usdeeply that Johan was such an inspiration to many of you,” said Jordi, who played for Manchester United, in a statement. “On behalf of my mother, sisters and the rest of the family I would like to saythank you for all the love, kind words and memories that have been shared with us, since yesterday but also over the past months.”
The family will hold a private funeral for thethree-time Ballon d’Or winner, while a public memorial will also be organized.
