Crowd Count: USL opening day attendances

The USL's five expansion teams that have played their first home game have averaged 7,134 fans. They were led by FC Cincinnati, which drew 14,658 fans at Nippert Stadium, and San Antonio FC, which set a Toyota Field soccer attendance record with 8,466.

The Swope Park Rangers drew 6,812 fans for their first home game, played at Children’s Mercy Park, home of parent club Sporting Kansas City. They will open at Swope Soccer Village next Wednesday.

Bethlehem Steel drew 3,655 fans for its first game on the campus of Lehigh University, while Orlando City B drew 2,078 fans at Eastern Florida State College's Titan Soccer Complex in Melbourne.

The Rio Grande Valley Toros, the sixth expansion team, will open April 30 at University of Texas-Rio Grande Soccer & Track Complex. The opening of their new 10,000-seat stadium has been postponed because of construction delays caused by rain.

Besides San Antonio FC, which has set up shop where the NASL Scorpions played, Sacramento Republic FC (11,569) and Saint Louis FC (5,531) enjoyed home-opener sellouts. Saint Louis FC's game marked the reopening of World Wide Technology Soccer Park, damaged in winter flooding.

Toronto FC II's crowd of 1,200 was also a sellout at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
