MLS Salaries: Recent arrivals dominate millionaire club

The MLS Players' Union released the 2016 salaries and guaranteed compensation of MLS players. The number of millionaires, players making $1 million or more in guaranteed compensation, is up to 23. Eight of the 10 highest-paid players -- all but Americans Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey -- have entered the league in 2015.

Both Toronto FC (2-3-8) and New York City FC (5-6-7) have three players ranking in the top 10, and the LA Galaxy has players ranked 4-10-11.

Only six players -- Americans Jozy Altidore, Tim Howard, Bradley and Dempsey, plus Kei Kamara and Federico Higuain, until last week teammates in Columbus -- did not originally enter MLS as millionaires.

Only six teams -- FC Dallas, D.C. United, Houston, Sporting Kansas City, the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union -- don't have at least one player making $1 million or more.

#17 was injured almost all of last year, and has hardly touched the ball in actual games this year...

Agreed, John. Also curious what a national team GK like Joe Hart makes before I would say Tim is overpriced. Also I count 4 Americans, not 3, AA.
